Getting Started

  • Playable discs: CD-DA, CD-R/CD-RW (MP3/WMA/AAC)
  • Resetting the unit: Press the RESET button with a pointed object.
  • Canceling DEMO mode: Navigate to "DEMO-OFF" in the setup menu.
  • Setting the clock: Use the control dial and SEEK +/- buttons.
  • Detaching/Attaching the front panel: Press and hold SOURCE/OFF, then OPEN.

Troubleshooting and error codes

Problem Possible Cause/Solution
No power Check connection or fuse. If unit is off and screen is blank, it cannot be operated with remote. Turn on the unit.
Motorized antenna does not extend The motorized antenna does not have a relay box.
No sound ATT function is active. FADER is not set for a 2-speaker system.
No beep sound Beep sound is cancelled. An external amplifier is connected and the built-in amplifier is not used.
Memory content erased RESET button was pressed. Re-store data. Power/battery cable disconnected.
Stored stations and clock erased Fuse blown.
Noise when ignition key is turned Cables not connected correctly to the auxiliary power connector.
Demonstration mode starts during playback/reception No operation for 5 minutes and "DEMO-ON" is set. Set to "DEMO-OFF".
Display disappears or does not appear Attenuator set to "DIMMER-ON". Screen turns off if SOURCE/OFF is held. Connectors are dirty.
Auto power-off function not working Unit is on. Auto power-off activates after turning off the unit. Turn off the unit.
Cannot receive stations / Noise Incorrect connection. Check antenna connection. If motorized antenna does not extend, check its control cable. Local search setting may be incorrect. Radio signal too weak.
Cannot use programmed tuning Incorrect frequency stored. Weak broadcast signal.
Cannot use auto tuning Local search setting incorrect. Weak broadcast signal. Use manual tuning.
"ST" flashes during FM reception Tune to frequency precisely. Weak broadcast signal. Set to "MONO-ON".
FM stereo broadcast sounds monaural Unit is in monaural reception mode. Set to "MONO-OFF".
RDS displays "----- " Current station is not RDS. RDS data not received. Station does not specify program type.
Cannot insert disc Disc already inserted. Disc inserted upside down or incorrectly.
Playback does not start Defective or dirty disc. CD-R/CD-RW not for audio.
Cannot play MP3/WMA/AAC files Disc format/version not compatible. Visit support website for details. Playback may take longer for complex tree structures, Multi Session, or discs with addable data.
Display items do not scroll Discs with many characters may not scroll. "AUTO SCROLL" is off. Set to "A.SCRL-ON" or hold DSPL (SCRL).
Sound skips Incorrect installation (unit must be angled less than 45° in a firm car part). Defective or dirty disc.
Operation buttons do not work Disc will not eject. Press RESET button.
USB playback not possible via USB hub Unit cannot recognize USB devices via a hub.
Cannot play elements USB device not functioning. Reconnect. Complex tree structure may cause slow playback. USB device disconnected during playback. Sound is discontinuous due to high bit rate (>320 kbps).
CHECKING Unit confirming USB connection. Wait for completion.
ERROR Disc dirty/inserted wrong. Blank disc inserted. Disc not playable. USB device not recognized. Insert another disc. Reconnect USB. Press to eject disc.
FAILURE Speaker/amplifier connection incorrect. SAT tuner error storing station.
HUBS NO SUPRT USB hub not compatible.
INVALID Connected USB device has no music files for SensMe™.
L. SEEK +/- Local search mode active during auto-tuning.
NO CHANNEL Connected USB device has no channel list for SensMe™.
NO DEV USB selected as source without a device connected. USB device/cable disconnected during playback. Connect USB device/cable.
NO MUSIC Disc/USB device has no music files. Insert music CD or connect USB device with music.
NO NAME No disc/album/artist/track name recorded.
NOT FOUND No element found starting with the selected letter.
OFFSET Possible internal failure. Check connection. Contact Sony dealer if error indicator remains.
OVERLOAD USB device overloaded. Disconnect USB, then change source. Indicates USB device out of service or incompatible device connected.
READ Unit is reading track/album information. Wait for playback to start. May take over a minute.
RESET Unit or USB device unusable due to problem. Press RESET button.
S-CH NO SUPRT Connected USB device not compatible for SensMe™ channels. Visit support website.
USB NO SUPRT Connected USB device not compatible. Visit support website.
Fast forward/rewind issues Reached beginning/end of disc, cannot continue.
Character display issue Cannot display character.
