Basic Operations

  • Playing a CD: Press OPEN/CLOSE to open, place CD with label up, close lid. Press ▶I (direct power-on) to play all tracks.
  • Listening to the radio: Connect AC power. Press BAND to select desired band. Hold TUNING/TIME SET +/- to scan for stations.
  • Playing a tape: Press STOP/EJECT to open, insert tape with the side you want to play facing up, close compartment. Press PLAY (▶) to play.
  • Recording on a tape: Insert blank tape. Select program source (CD or Radio). Press RECORD (●) to start recording.

Setting Up

  • Choosing power sources: Use AC power cord or six size D (R20) batteries.
  • Selecting audio emphasis: Press SOUND to choose sound characteristic (ROCK, VOCAL, LIVE, POP, OFF). Press MEGA BASS to reinforce bass.

Troubleshooting and error codes

SymptomRemedy
The power is not on. Connect the AC power cord securely. Make sure batteries are inserted correctly. Make sure the desired function is selected.
There is no audio. Adjust the volume. Unplug headphones.
"no disc" lights...when a CD is in place. Insert CD with label side up. Make sure CD compartment is closed. Clean the CD.
The CD does not play. Make sure "Cd" appears in the display.
The sound drops out. Reduce volume. Clean CD or replace if damaged. Place player away from vibration.
The audio is weak or has poor quality. Replace batteries if weak. Move player away from TV. (AM radio may have noise near TV).
The picture of your TV becomes unstable. Move player away from TV.
The tape does not move... Close cassette compartment securely. Make sure safety tab is in place.
The REC button does not function/The tape does not play. Make sure "TAPE" appears in the display.
The tape does not erase completely. Clean erasing head. Replace batteries if weak.
The tape does not record. Make sure tape is inserted properly. Make sure safety tab is in place.
The audio is weak/The audio quality is poor. Clean heads, pinch roller, capstan. Demagnetize heads. Use TYPE I (normal) tape only.
The sound is distorted. Use TYPE I (normal) tape only.
The timer does not operate. Make sure clock time is correct. Check if AC power is on. Make sure clock indicator is displayed.
The remote does not function. Replace remote batteries. Point remote at sensor. Remove obstacles. Avoid direct sunlight on sensor. Move closer to player.
