Getting Started

  • Unpacking: Identify the subwoofer, sound bar, digital optical cord, AC power cord, remote control, operating instructions, and warranty.
  • Connecting Components: Connect the TV and player using HDMI, digital optical, or analog audio cords. Ensure the AC power cord is fully inserted.
  • Placement: Install the sound bar on a rack or wall, ensuring adequate ventilation. Position the subwoofer at least 10 cm away from the wall.
  • Bluetooth Setup: Pair the system with Bluetooth devices automatically or manually. NFC one-touch connection is also available for compatible smartphones.
  • Listening to Music: Play music via Bluetooth by pairing the devices, starting playback, and adjusting the volume.
  • Playback Options: Operate the system using the remote control to turn it on/off, select input sources, adjust volume, mute, enjoy surround sound, and adjust bass/treble. Night mode is available for clear dialog at low volumes.
  • TV Control: If using a Sony TV, control it using specific buttons on the remote.
  • Changing Battery: Replace the remote control battery with a CR2025 when its performance degrades.

Troubleshooting and error codes

Problem Possible Cause Solution
No sound is output from the TV via the system. • Check the connection of the optical digital cable or audio cable to the system and TV.
• Check the TV's sound output settings.
• Check if the TV's sound is set to low volume or mute.
• Check if the correct input connector is selected on the TV.

Sound is emitted from both the system and the TV. • System or TV sound is not muted. • Turn off the sound of the system or the TV.
No sound or only very low volume sound is heard from the connected equipment via the system. • Volume level is low.
• Muting is activated.
• Incorrect input source is selected.
• Cables are not fully inserted.
• Press VOL +/- to check the volume level (page 21).
• Press MUTING or VOL + to cancel muting (page 21).
• Check that the input source is correctly selected (page 21).
• Ensure all cables are fully inserted into the system and connected equipment.
No sound. (Bluetooth) • System is too far from the Bluetooth device.
• Interference from Wi-Fi, other wireless devices, or microwave ovens.
• Incorrect Bluetooth connection.
• Control the distance between the system and Bluetooth device.
• Avoid interference sources.
• Check Bluetooth connection status.
• Re-pair the system and Bluetooth device.
Sound cuts out or the effective range is too short. (Bluetooth) • Interference from electromagnetic devices (Wi-Fi, other Bluetooth devices, microwave ovens).
• Obstacles between the system and Bluetooth device.
• System and Bluetooth device are too far apart.
• Incorrect Wi-Fi frequency.
• Move the system away from interference sources.
• Remove obstacles.
• Place the system and Bluetooth device closer.
• Change the Wi-Fi frequency to 5 GHz.
Pairing could not be performed. (Bluetooth) • System is too far from the Bluetooth device. • Move the system closer to the Bluetooth device.
Sound is not synchronized with the image. (Bluetooth) • Lip-sync delay when watching movies. If you are watching movies, the sound may be heard with a slight delay compared to the image.
Bluetooth connection is not complete. • Bluetooth device is not connected/powered on or Bluetooth function is off.
• Bluetooth connection was disconnected.
• Check if the Bluetooth device is connected, powered on, and the Bluetooth function is active.
• Re-establish the Bluetooth connection.
Remote control does not function. • Remote is not aimed correctly.
• Obstacle between remote and system.
• Battery is low.
• Incorrect input source selected.
• Aim the remote at the front panel of the sound bar.
• Remove any obstacles.
• Replace the battery.
• Select the correct input source.
System does not function correctly. • Various potential issues. Reset the system by pressing BASS +, VOL –, and TREBLE + in that order within three seconds. If the problem persists, consult your Sony dealer.
