Section 5: TEST MODE

5-1. FLUORESCENT INDICATOR TUBE MODE

• Procedure: Press the BP (TEST MODE) on the DISPLAY board with tweezers, turn on power. The display will light up segments and grids in sequence.
• Key Check Standby Mode: With the set in status 1-(4), press any key on the remote commander to change the display and activate key check.
• Key Check: Pressing keys on the front panel activates corresponding segments and LEDs.
• Test End: If "!%%TEST-END!!%%" is displayed after all keys are pressed, the key check is successful. Note: LEDs are not checked in this mode.
• Press the button to turn off power and disconnect.

5-2. ADJUSTMENT-1 MODE

• Used for overall adjustment, optical pick-up height, and service check.
• Setting Method: Turn power off, press Digital Out and buttons, then turn on power. Display "bbb" indicates Adjustment-1 Mode.
• Resetting Method: Turn power off, disconnect plug.

5-3. ADJUSTMENT-2 MODE

• Used for CLV jitter check and movement check.
• Setting Method: Turn power off, press TIME and buttons, then turn on power. Display "# OPEN #" indicates Adjustment-2 Mode.
• Resetting Method: Turn power off, disconnect plug.

Section 6: ELECTRICAL ADJUSTMENTS

• Traverse Check: Connect oscilloscope to TP516(TE) and TP501(VC) on MAIN board. Set to Adjustment-1 Mode. Insert disc. Press buttons to check disc type. Turn off tracking servo. Check waveform against specifications.
• S Curve Check: Connect oscilloscope to TP524(FE) and TP501(VC). Set to Adjustment-1 Mode. Insert disc. Press buttons to check disc type. Execute focus search. Check waveform against specifications.
• RF Level Check: Connect oscilloscope to TP503(RF) and TP501(VC). Set to Adjustment-1 Mode. Insert disc. Press buttons to check disc type. Check waveform clarity and level against specifications.
• CLV Jitter Check: Connect oscilloscope to TP702(MNT4), TP703(MNT5) and TP521(GND). Set to Adjustment-2 Mode. Insert disc. Press button. Move sled. Check waveform against specifications.
• Optical Pick-up Height Adjustment: Connect oscilloscope to TP515(PI), TP511(FOUT) and TP501(VC). Set to Adjustment-1 Mode. Insert disc. Set Focus Search mode. Adjust height by shifting Holder (R2) while loosening screw. Set Play mode. Adjust TAN skew for jitter. Repeat steps. Lock screw.
• Overall Adjustment: Set to Adjustment-1 Mode. Press buttons to initialize data. Insert disc. Press buttons for adjustment (approx. 2 min). Remove disc. Repeat for other discs. Check values against thresholds. Press button to proceed.
