Basic Operation

  • Powering Up: Ensure the battery is attached or AC adapter is connected. Turn on the camcorder using the POWER switch.
  • Viewfinder Setup: Attach and adjust the viewfinder for comfortable viewing.
  • Lens Mounting: Mount the lens securely using the lens locking lever.
  • Power Supply: Select between battery or AC power.
  • Recording: Use the REC START button to begin recording.
  • Playback: Use the playback buttons (F REV, PLAY/PAUSE, F FWD, PREV, STOP, NEXT) to control playback.
  • Thumbnail Screen: Access and navigate recorded clips using the THUMBNAIL button.
  • Settings: Utilize the MENU knob and buttons to access and adjust various settings like white balance, shutter speed, and audio levels.
Note: Before operating, set the area of use (page 35). Turn off the camcorder before attaching or removing accessories.

Troubleshooting and error codes

Possible Cause Solution
No picture is displayed. Check the connection of the viewfinder.
No sound is recorded. Check the connection of the microphone or audio input. Check the audio input selectors and level settings.
Cannot record. Check if a memory card is inserted and has sufficient remaining capacity. Check if the memory card is write-protected. Format the memory card if necessary.
The camcorder does not turn on. Ensure the battery is fully charged or the AC adapter is properly connected.
Error indication appears. Refer to "Operation Warnings" on page 166 for details on error indications.
