USE

Power sources: Operate the unit using only the indicated type of power source. Consult your dealer or local power company if unsure.

Grounding or polarization: The unit has a polarized AC power cord plug that fits into the outlet only one way. Do not force it; contact an electrician if it doesn't fit.

Overloading: Do not overload outlets or extension cords to prevent fire or electric shock.

Liquid and foreign objects: Never insert objects into openings or spill liquids on the unit to avoid fire, electric shock, or damage.

Attachments: Use only manufacturer-recommended attachments.

Cleaning: Unplug the unit before cleaning. Use a lightly dampened cloth with water; avoid liquid or aerosol cleaners.

Water and moisture: Do not use the unit near water.

Power cord protection: Route the power cord to avoid it being walked on or pinched.

Troubleshooting and error codes

Cannot establish a network connection (Ethernet or modem). - Ensure the PlayStation®2 console power plug is firmly inserted into the outlet.
- Verify the network adaptor is correctly installed in the console.
- Insert a PlayStation®2 format software disc compatible with the network adaptor.
- Ensure you are using compatible PlayStation®2 format software.
- Check and adjust network configuration settings.
- Wait a few minutes and try accessing the network again if it's busy.
Cannot establish a network connection (Ethernet only). - Ensure the network connection cable is connected correctly.
- Use the appropriate type of network cable (100Base-TX or 10Base-T).
- Check and adjust network device (router, DSL modem, etc.) settings.
Cannot establish a network connection (Modem only). - Ensure the telephone cord is connected correctly.
- Verify the telephone line is not in use.
- Use a residential telephone line (PBX or commercial lines are not supported).
- Ensure your software is compatible with your internet service provider.
Slow data transmission speed (Modem only). - Minimize interference from electrical appliances.
- Avoid general-use extension cords or cords connected to other devices.
- Check for interference between your home and the telephone company.
Connection fails suddenly (Modem only). - Temporarily disable call waiting.
- Contact your local telephone company for assistance.
Cannot connect, and after repeated attempts, the modem stops dialing (Modem only). - There are limitations on the number of redial attempts. Turn off the console, wait a few minutes, and try again.
