Smoke sensors have a limited lifespan and replacement after 10 years is recommended.
- **Smoke Method:** Apply test smoke; red LED should latch within 40 seconds, control panel activates.
- **Laser Test Tool Method:** Align laser with LED; sensor should latch into alarm within seconds if not at drift limit, control panel activates.
- **Maintenance:** Remove sensor, clean cover, vacuum outside of screen, carefully remove and clean screen, re-install screen and cover. Restore power and test.
- **Tamper-Resistance:** Removal of plastic tab prevents sensor removal without a tool.
- **Dust Covers:** Must be removed before system operation.
