Warranty Information

Starting the Engine

  1. Ensure the choke is in the ON position (if equipped).
  2. Turn the ignition switch to the START position.
  3. Release the switch once the engine starts.

Mowing

  1. Engage the blade by pulling the blade-control bar to the handle.
  2. Walk behind the mower, guiding it.
  3. For self-propel models, walk with the mower, and it will move forward automatically.
  4. To stop mowing, release the blade-control bar to disengage the blade.

Shutting Off the Engine

  1. Press and hold the engine-shutoff button until the engine stops.

Changing Cutting Height

  1. Adjust the cutting height by setting all wheels to the desired height position.

Bagging/Recycling Clippings

  1. Use the bag-on-demand lever to select between bagging and recycling clippings.

Troubleshooting and error codes

Problem Possible Cause Solution
Engine does not start. Out of fuel. Fill the fuel tank with fresh, unleaded gasoline.
Spark plug wire is disconnected. Connect the spark plug wire to the spark plug.
Spark plug is dirty or fouled. Clean or replace the spark plug.
Engine is flooded. Move the choke to OFF and try starting the engine.
Engine runs rough. Old or contaminated fuel. Drain the fuel tank and refill with fresh fuel.
Dirty air filter. Service the air filter.
Carburetor needs adjustment. Contact an Authorized Service Dealer.
Blade does not stop when blade-control bar is released. Blade-brake-clutch system malfunction. Contact an Authorized Service Dealer.
Machine vibrates excessively. Blade is unbalanced, damaged, or loose. Check and tighten the blade nuts. If damaged or unbalanced, replace or sharpen the blade.
