Before Operation
Ensure the machine is safe to operate by checking guards, blades, and the area for debris. Understand controls and safety signs. Always shut off the engine and wait for parts to stop before servicing.
Fuel Safety
Fuel is flammable. Fill the tank outdoors with a cold engine, away from sparks or flames. Avoid spills and breathing vapors.
Checking Engine-Oil Level
Check the oil level before each use or daily using the dipstick. Ensure it is within the recommended range to avoid engine damage.
Adjusting Cutting Height
Shut off the engine before adjusting cutting height. Set all wheels to the same height.
Starting the Engine
Hold the blade-control bar, then pull the recoil-start handle. If the engine strikes an object or vibrates, shut it off immediately.
Using Self-Propel Drive (Model Specific)
Pull the self-propel-drive bar to the handle to engage. Release to disengage.
Shutting Off the Engine
Release the blade-control bar. The engine should stop within 3 seconds.
