Using Your TV

Connecting: Connect antennas, VCRs, DVD players, cable boxes, or audio systems using the appropriate cables. Refer to pages 7-12 for detailed connection diagrams and notes on picture quality.

Remote Control: Install batteries and learn to use the remote control for TV and other devices. You can program it to operate non-Toshiba equipment using codes on pages 15-16.

Setup: Adjust on-screen display language, program channels automatically or manually, and change channels using the remote or TV front panel. Select signal sources (TV, Video 1-3, ColorStream) using the TV/VIDEO button.

Troubleshooting and error codes

Problem Solution
TV will not turn on Check power cord connection, surge suppressor, and remote batteries.
Picture problems Check connections, antenna signal strength, station, TV/VIDEO source, VCR settings, remote device switch, and TV/CABLE setting. Adjust Picture menu settings and SVM feature. Ensure correct cable types are used.
Black box on screen Set CLOSED CAPTION to OFF. Check for broadcast difficulties, adjust TINT/COLOR, or let TV cool if color shading occurs. Ensure proper ColorStream IN jack usage or switch to 480i interlaced mode for high-definition devices.
This TV displays 480i signals only This TV does not support 480p, 720p, or 1080i signals. Switch high-definition devices to 480i interlaced mode.
Sound problems Check connections, volume, mute, MTS settings (STR/SAP), SPEAKERS setting, and antenna/cable connections.
