SETTING UP

Safety Precautions: Read important safety information before use.

Remote Control: Familiarize yourself with buttons for channels, volume, menus, and special functions like Teletext.

Connections: Connect external equipment (VCR, decoder, etc.) using SCART leads or other AV connections as recommended.

Switching On: Use the POWER button and then a number button on the remote to turn on. Use Standby mode for short periods.

Tuning: Use Auto tune for initial channel setup or Manual tune for specific adjustments. Select Language, Country, and System.

CONTROLS AND FEATURES

Troubleshooting and error codes

Query	Answer
Why are there distorted images/faded colours?	This is sometimes due to condensation if the room temperature rises rapidly or the television is moved from a cold room to a warm room. Leave the television turned on for a while this should improve the images.
Why is there no sound or picture?	Check the mains switch is on and check all connections. Check the television is not in standby mode.
There is a picture, but why is there little or no colour?	When using an external source, for instance, a poor quality video tape, if there is little or no colour, improvements may sometimes be achieved. The colour is factory set to Auto. to automatically display the best colour system. To check that you have the best colour: 1. With the external source playing, select Manual setting from the SET UP menu. 2. With < or > choose between Auto., PAL, SECAM, NTSC 4. 43 or 3. 58.
Why doesn't the video/DVD being played show on screen?	Make sure the VCR or DVD player is connected to the television as shown on page 6, then select the correct input by pressing .
Why is there a good video picture but no sound?	Check the SCART lead connection.
Why is there a picture but no sound?	Check the volume has not been turned down or that sound mute has not been selected.
Why is the VCR/DVD picture in black and white?	Check the correct input has been chosen, S-VIDEO or AV. See AV connection.
What else can cause a poor picture?	Interference or a weak signal. Try a different television station. Manual fine tuning may help.
Why doesn't the remote control work?	Check the side switch on the remote control is in television mode. Check the batteries aren't dead or inserted incorrectly.
Why don't the controls on the side/front of the television work?	Check that Panel lock is not ON.
Why is there a message permanently on the screen?	Remove it by pressing CALL.
Why is there no sound from my connected sound equipment?	Check the Speaker option in the Sound menu is set to Off.
Why are there problems with teletext?	Good performance of text depends on a good strong broadcast signal. This normally requires a roof or loft aerial. If the Text is unreadable or garbled, check the aerial. Go to the main index page of the teletext service and look for the User Guide. This will explain the basic operation of teletext in some detail. If further information is needed on how to use text see the teletext section.
Why are there no teletext sub-pages?	There are none broadcast or they have not yet loaded. Press the () button to access. (See teletext section).
Why are the colours wrong when an NTSC source is played?	Connect the source via a SCART lead and play. Select Manual setting from the SET UP menu. 1. Set the Colour to Auto. Press OK to store. 2. Go to the Picture menu and adjust the tint.
