INSTALLING YOUR TV

Safety Precautions

  • Ensure adequate ventilation (10cm clearance).
  • Avoid direct sunlight and heat sources.
  • Connect only to 220-240v AC 50/60Hz power.
  • Do not remove the mains plug.
  • Read operating instructions before use.
  • Ensure all electrical connections are secure.
  • Switch off and unplug before making connections.
  • Consult your dealer if in doubt.
  • Be careful with glass panels.
  • Do not remove fixed covers.
  • Ensure the mains plug is easily accessible.
  • Do not obstruct ventilation openings.
  • Keep away from liquids and heat sources.
  • Use manufacturer-approved stands/brackets.
  • Switch off when unattended unless designed for it.
  • Do not operate if damaged.
  • Excessive sound pressure can cause hearing loss.
  • Never let anyone push or hit the screen or insert objects into openings.
  • Be cautious with electrical equipment.

Installation and important information

  • Locate away from direct sunlight and strong lights.
  • Use curtains or blinds.
  • Place on a sturdy, flat, steady platform.
  • Secure to the wall or platform to prevent falling.
  • LCD panels are high precision; minor imperfections are not malfunctions.
  • Avoid pushing, hitting, or inserting items into the case.

NOTES

  • Digital reception is effective only in listed countries.
  • Stationary images left on screen for extended periods can become conspicuous; reduce brightness/contrast.
  • Continuous use of 4:3 picture on a 16:9 screen may cause image retention; use other size modes to prevent this.

Troubleshooting and error codes

Why is there no picture or sound?Check if the TV is in standby mode. Check the power cord and all connections.
Why is the VCR/DVD picture black and white?Check if S-VIDEO or AV input is selected. See 'AV Connections' on page 32.
What else can cause poor picture quality?Interference or weak signal. Try a different channel or use Manual Fine Tuning.
Why is there picture but little or no colour?Colour is set to Auto by default for best performance. Check settings.
How to verify best colour possible?Select Manual Setting from the SETUP menu. Select Color System and choose from Auto, PAL, SECAM, NTSC 3.58/4.43.
Why do the TV controls not work?Check if 'Function Lock' is set to On.
Why is the remote control not working?Check batteries are not flat or inserted incorrectly.
Why is there no video from VCR/DVD?Ensure VCR or DVD player is connected as shown on page 7. Select the correct input using the Input button.
Why is there picture but no sound?Check all conductor connections. Audio format may not be acceptable. Check volume is not muted and 'Mute' is not selected.
Why is there a permanent image on the screen?Remove it by pressing the i+ button.
Why is the digital channel blocked?The channel is selected in 'Blocked Program' (see 'Digital Settings').
Why can only some channels be viewed?'Favourite List' is selected. Set function to 'All Programs' or change channels using number buttons.
Why are some subscription digital channels unavailable?Subscription must be renewed. Contact service provider.
Why is the audio track in English even if another language was chosen?The program is currently broadcast only in English.
Why is the DTV audio absent or incorrect?Press I/II to ensure the option for hearing impaired is selected.
What to do if the PIN is forgotten?Use master PIN 1276, then choose a new number. Ensure no one else can use the master PIN by hiding the manual.
Why are subtitles not transmitted?Subtitles are not currently broadcast by the channel.
Why is there no digital text service?The digital program being viewed does not transmit digital text. Try another digital program.
Why are there problems with analogue teletext?Requires a strong, interference-free signal, usually from a rooftop antenna. Consult teletext index page for user guide.
Why are there no analogue teletext subpages?They are not being transmitted or have not loaded yet. Press the button to access them.
Why is the page number visible but teletext is not displayed?Teletext was selected while an external source was displayed without teletext information.
Why are colours wrong with an NTSC source?Connect the signal via SCART cable and proceed with playback. Select Manual Setting from SETUP menu. Set Color System to Auto.
Why do connected HDMI devices not work correctly?Use HDMI cables with the HDMI logo. Some older HDMI devices may not work with newer TVs due to a new standard. Set Lip Sync to Off.
