Making the Vacuum Cleaner Ready for Use

Accessories connect by pressing together and turning, and separate by pulling and turning.

Connect the Suction Hose: Plug the connector into the suction inlet. It clips into place and is free to rotate. Press the release button and pull to remove.

Connect Together the Suction Hose and Suction Tube: Firmly connect the suction tube handle to the suction tube.

Connect the Suction Tubes Together (depending on model): Connect the two tubes together.

Adjust the Telescopic Tube (depending on model): Push down the button and adjust the tube to the desired working position.

Mains Connection/Cable Rewind: Pull out the mains cable and plug into a socket. Unplug and press the foot button to rewind.

Using the Nozzles

Nozzles connect to the suction tube by pressing and turning, and remove by pulling and turning.

Crevice Nozzle: For vacuuming crevices, gaps, and corners.

VARIO 500 Floor Nozzle: For carpets and hard floors, with adjustable brushes.

Upholstery Nozzle: For upholstered furniture, mattresses, etc., picks up thread and lint.

Nozzles are stored in an integrated compartment and can be fitted to the suction tube or hose handle.

Switching On

Press the On/Off button to switch the appliance on and off.

Power Regulation

Rotary Regulator: Adjust suction power using the electronic power regulator from min. to max.

Mega-Power: Press the Mega-Power button for high suction power. The indicator lamp lights up. In this stage, the adjustment wheel only functions as an on/off switch.

Maintenance and Cleaning

Ensure the appliance is off and unplugged before maintenance. Change the paper filter when the indicator is red at max power with the nozzle raised. Replace even if not full due to fine dust blocking pores.

Hygiene Filter Replacement: Pull the closing tab to close the bag automatically. Insert new paper filter into guide rails.

Microfilter Replacement: Replace every fifth paper filter change, or when the dust level indicator is red. Open lid, remove old microfilter, insert new one.

Motor Protection Filter: Permanent filter. Clean by tapping out if soiled due to damaged paper filter.

HEPA Filter: For allergy sufferers, replace after one year.

Cleaning: Wipe housing with a damp cloth. Do not use solvents. Clean floor nozzle and brush holder with crevice nozzle.

Carrying and Storage

Slide floor nozzle into the tool rail for easier storage and carrying. Use the parking system for short pauses.

What to do, if...

Nozzle hard to push: Turn down power.

Motor thermal overload protection triggers: Motor shuts down due to overload. Turn off, unplug, allow to cool for 30 minutes. Check filter bag, suction tube, and hose for blockages.

Fuse has blown: May occur if other high-power appliances are used simultaneously. Set power regulator to minimum before turning on.

Paper filter damaged/HEPA filter dirtied: Remove and clean HEPA filter, replace paper filter.

Thread lifters worn: Order new thread lifters from AEG customer service.

Lid jumps out of hinge: Place back on housing and press until it snaps into place.

Troubleshooting and error codes

Problem Cause Solution
The nozzle is hard to push Power is too high Turn down the power. Cleaning performance will not be affected.
Motor thermal overload protection device triggers Motor is overloaded (e.g., full filter bag, blocked accessory) Turn off the appliance, unplug from mains, and allow the motor to cool down for approximately 30 minutes. Check filter bag, suction tube, and suction hose for blockages.
The fuse has blown Other high power electrical appliances used simultaneously on the same circuit Set the electronic power regulator to minimum before turning on the appliance and increase the power setting after switching on.
The paper filter is damaged at some stage and the HEPA filter is dirtied Damage to filter or dirt accumulation Remove the HEPA filter, clean (tap out) and replace. Insert new paper filter.
The thread lifters are worn Wear and tear on thread lifters Order new thread lifters from AEG customer service (ET No. 668 901 690).
The housing lid jumps out of its hinge Opened too far Place the lid back on the housing and press until it snaps back into place.
