Making the Vacuum Cleaner Ready for Use
Accessories can be connected by pressing together and turning, and separated by pulling and turning. Connect the suction hose to the suction inlet. Firmly connect the suction tube handle to the suction tube. Connect the suction tubes together if applicable. Plug the mains cable into a socket. The cable rewinds automatically by pressing the foot button after unplugging.
Using the Nozzles
Nozzles connect to the suction tube by pressing and turning. The VARIO 500 Floor Nozzle is adjustable for carpets and hard floors. The Crevice Nozzle is for tight spaces. The Upholstery Nozzle is for furniture. These can be stored in the appliance's compartment.
Switching On
Press the On/Off button to switch the appliance on and off. Power can be regulated using the rotary regulator or the Mega-Power button for maximum suction.
Troubleshooting and error codes
| Problem | Solution |
| The nozzle is hard to push | Turn down the power. Cleaning performance will not be affected. |
| The motor thermal overload protection device triggers | Turn off the appliance, unplug from the mains, and allow the motor to cool down. Check the paper filter bag, suction tube, and suction hose for blockages. The appliance can be turned on again after approximately 30 minutes. |
| The fuse has blown | This may occur if other high power appliances are used on the same circuit. Set the power regulator to minimum before turning on, then increase. Your vacuum cleaner has a soft start controller to reduce start-up current. |
| The thread lifters are worn | Replace with new thread lifters. Order from AEG customer service under ET No. 668 901 690. |
| The lid jumps out of its hinge | If opened too far, place it back on the housing and press until it snaps back into place. |
