Starting Your Portable Air Conditioner

Models with Heat/Models without Heat:

  • Press POWER to turn the unit on or off.
  • Press MODE to select Fan, Cool, Dry, Heat (if applicable), or Auto mode.
  • Press FAN SPEED to adjust fan speed (High, Med, Low).
  • Use TEMP buttons to raise or lower the temperature.
  • TIMER button sets delay on/off.
  • SLEEP button activates sleep mode (adjusts temp automatically).

NOTES:

  • Unit remembers previous settings after power failure.
  • Mode changes may cause a 3-5 minute fan delay.
  • Compressor and fan stop when set temperature is reached in Cool/Dry modes.

Troubleshooting and error codes

Problem Possible Cause Solution
Air conditioner will not operate Power cord unplugged or outlet has no power. Plug into a grounded 3-prong outlet. Check local power.
Fuse blown or circuit breaker tripped. Replace fuse or reset breaker. See "Electrical Requirements."
Time-delay fuse/breaker capacity incorrect. Use correct capacity fuse/breaker.
Power supply cord tripped (Reset button popped out). Press and release RESET.
Power button not pressed. Press POWER button.
Unit needs to be drained (H8 displayed). Drain the unit.
Air conditioner blows fuses or trips circuit breakers Too many appliances on the same circuit. Unplug or relocate appliances.
Trying to restart too soon after turning off. Wait at least 3 minutes before restarting.
Changed modes recently. Wait at least 3 minutes after turning off before restarting.
Air conditioner power supply cord trips (Reset button pops out) Electrical disturbances. Press and release RESET.
Electrical overload, overheating, cord pinched or aged. Correct problem, then press and release RESET. If cord won't reset, contact service.
Damaged power cord. Replace cord (do not repair).
Air conditioner seems to run too much Door or window open. Close doors and windows.
Unit may be replacing an older model. Newer units are more efficient; "blast" of cold air may be less, but overall energy consumption is lower.
Air conditioner runs for a short time only, but room is not cool Set temperature is too close to room temp. Lower the set temperature.
Air outlet is blocked. Clear air outlet.
Room too hot/humid, or unit is not properly sized. Use exhaust fans, avoid heat-producing appliances, check unit size.
Air conditioner runs, but does not cool Filter is dirty or obstructed. Clean the filter.
Air conditioner cycles on and off too much Unit not properly sized for room. Check cooling capabilities; supplemental cooling.
Air conditioner cycles on and off too much (cont.) Filter dirty. Excessive heat/moisture. Louvers blocked. Outside temp too low. Clean filter. Use exhaust fan. Ensure louvers are clear. Do not operate below 64°F (18°C) in cooling mode.
