Troubleshooting and error codes

Error Code Meaning Troubleshooting Steps
X0, X1, 73 Data cannot be read.
  • Check if disc is dirty or scratched. If yes, check with another disc.
  • If no, check for E.F. balance unbalanced, TRACKING servo defective, FEED servo defective, VCO maladjusted, HFD circuit defective, or Pick-up/Spindle system defective.
X4, X5 Poor tray loading operation.
  • Check if tray operates with OPEN/CLOSE key. If yes, SW201 detection is poor or Microcomputer is defective.
  • If no, check for Motor defective, Control IC (IC5) defective, or Microcomputer defective.
X6 Poor table rotation.
  • Check if tray rotates in TEST mode. If NO, check for Motor defective, Drive circuit defective, or Microcomputer defective.
  • If YES, check for Tray sensor defective or Microcomputer defective.
X7 FEED operation defective (Limit switch fails).
  • If forced feed operation is available in TEST mode: If Outward, Feed limit switch defective or Microcomputer defective. If Inward, FEED servo defective or Microcomputer defective.
X8 Focus drops.
  • Check if disc is dirty or scratched. If yes, check with another disc.
  • If no, check for Outermost pick-up position issues (E.F balance unbalanced, TRACKING servo defective, FEED servo defective) or Within disc range issues (FOCUS servo defective, Pick-up defective).
X9, X- Poor Clamp operation.
  • Check if pick-up is caught and locked by disc table. If yes, Malfunction of tray-table.
  • If no, check if clamp operation is available in TEST mode. If yes, SW202 detection poor or Microcomputer defective.
System Malfunctions:
Tray fails to come out/go in. Tray starts to move but stops.
  • If yes, possible wire caught or loose gear.
  • If no, check if output is available at LOADING terminal. If yes, Motor defective. If no, check FLSW="L". If yes, Microcomputer or LOADING IC (IC5) defective. If no, Limit switch defective, FEED servo system defective, or Microcomputer or SPC-6 defective.
No sound generated, Sound cut during play. MUTING applied.
  • If yes, MUTING circuit defective or Microcomputer defective.
  • If no, check for normal digital data input to DAC IC (IC10). If yes, DAC IC (IC10) defective or Audio amplifier (IC11, IC12) defective. If no, SPC-6 (IC6) defective.
Operates as if no disc loaded. Does table rotate properly?
  • If no, Poor table rotation.
  • If yes, check if table position sensor is normal. If no, Ultrarared LED (D201) defective or Microcomputer defective.
