Operating your hob

Cooking zones

  • The cooking zones are clearly marked on the ceramic surface.
  • They are operated by the corresponding switch box or built-in oven.
  • The dimensions of the cooking zones are such that they accommodate standard sized saucepans.

Cooking equipment

  • Specially tested cooking pans for ceramic hobs exist. Pay attention to the declaration of the manufacturer.
  • Cooking pans with aluminium or copper bottoms can cause metallic discolouration. Be especially careful in using enamel pans. Avoid heating empty pans.
  • For optimal energy consumption and cooking time, consider the following:
  • Bottom of pans: Should be flat and solid. Rough edges can scratch the surface.
  • Size of pans: Should correspond to the diameter of the cooking zone.
  • Lid of pans: Prevents heat escape, shortens heating-up time, and reduces energy consumption.

Maintenance

  • Use non-aggressive detergents and soft sponges.
  • Cleaning after each use: Wipe off slight soiling with a damp cloth. Burnt soiling requires a scraper followed by a damp cloth.
  • Stain removal: Metallic stains and calcareous deposits can be removed with special detergents.
  • Sugar, sugar-containing food, plastic objects or kitchen foil: Scrape off immediately while the zone is still hot. Clean with a special detergent after cooling.
  • Detergents are available in supermarkets and shops. Scrapers are available in craft and department stores.
  • Do not apply detergents on hot zones; let them dry and wipe off. Ensure no residue remains, as it could corrode.

Installation

  • Cut out worktop according to template measurements.
  • Check seal for fit.
  • Lower hob and align correctly.
  • Fasten using brackets and tension clamps on the underside of the worktop. Do not overtighten. Use a screwdriver with an adjustable safety clutch (1-1.1 Nm).
  • Connect to approved control boxes only.
  • Ensure a minimum distance of 20 mm between the hob underside and furniture.
  • Electrical connection must be done by a trained technician.

What to do in case of a defect

  • Zone not heating: Check if the fuse is on.
  • Buzzing sound: This is normal and stops with increasing heat.
  • Discolouring: This is burnt food residue and does not affect function or durability.
  • Before calling service, ensure correct operation and that the fuse is not blown.
  • Attention! If fissures or cracks appear, switch off immediately, disconnect from mains and inform the service department.
  • Important! For service, have type, model, and product-no. ready (found on the rating plates).

Troubleshooting and error codes

Problem Cause Solution
When the cooking zone does not heat up after you switched it on?   Make sure that the fuse is turned on.
You hear a buzzing when you heat up a zone?   This is no defect. It stops with increasing heat.
Discolouring of a cooking zone? This is not a change in the material but burnt and not removed food remains. They do not affect the function and the durability of the ceramic hob.
