1. Purpose and Advantages

This Zenit-7 is a single-lens reflex camera for color or black-and-white film, aimed at skilled amateur photographers. It features an instant return mirror for continuous viewing, micro-prisms in the ground plane for accurate focusing, and a lens with a jumping diaphragm for easier focusing. A red mark indicates when the shutter is not cocked. It accepts lenses from 37 to 1000 mm and can be used with extension rings for macro and micro photography.

4. Camera Loading

Load film by opening the back cover, securing the film leader to the take-up spool, placing the magazine, and closing the back. Cock the shutter and take two test shots to set the film counter to '0'.

5. Film Speed Setting

Set the film speed using the index on the dial, corresponding to ASA units or marks for color film under different lighting conditions.

6. Exposure Time Setting

Set the exposure time by rotating the exposure counter dial. 'B' allows for manual exposure duration.

7. Diaphragm Setting

Adjust the diaphragm by turning ring 3 to the desired value. The diaphragm will automatically close to this setting when the shutter is pressed.

8. Focusing

Focus by looking through the eyepiece and rotating the focusing ring until the image is sharpest on the ground surface. Use the micro-prisms in the center for precise focusing. Depth of field can be estimated using scale 4 or visually with ring 2.

9. Taking Pictures

Set exposure time and diaphragm, compose your shot, focus, cock the shutter, ensure the red indicator is gone, and press the release button. Avoid leaving the shutter cocked for extended periods.

11. Camera Unloading

After taking all exposures, press the rewind knob, then press button 19. Rewind the film by turning the knob until resistance decreases. Open the back cover and remove the film magazine.

12. Lens Replacement

Lenses with a 42x1 thread or compatible bayonet mount can be used. For lenses with a 39x1 thread, remove the thread-bayonet ring and use an additional adapter ring.

13. Taking Pictures at Close Distance

Use the special ring for macrophotography to shoot objects from approximately 0.3m. For very close shots or 1:1 scale, use extension rings UTZ and a 39x1 thread lens.

14. Storage and Maintenance

Handle the camera carefully, keep it clean, and protect it from moisture and temperature changes. Keep it in its case with the lens cap on and the shutter released. Clean lenses with soft flannel and appropriate liquids. Avoid opening the case in warm environments after cold exposure.
