How to Brew (Summary)

  1. Place brewer on a dry, level surface and power on.
  2. Remove water reservoir, fill to desired level (not exceeding 12-Cup Line), and replace.
  3. Place filter holder in brew basket and insert permanent or paper filter.
  4. Add coffee grounds to the brew basket.
  5. Place brew-through lid on carafe, lock it, and place carafe under brew basket.
  6. Select brew type (CLASSIC or RICH) and SMALL BATCH if brewing 4 cups or less.
  7. Press BREW to start.

Troubleshooting and error codes

Problem Solution
There is sediment in my coffee. Use coarser grind or paper filter.
There are grounds in my coffee. Ensure filter is inserted, reduce grounds, use medium-grind coffee.
Brew basket drips after brew. Rinse filter holder valve.
Paper filter is folding over. Use #4 cone filter, ensure correct size and shape, wet filter sides.
Brew will not start. Check power, water level, carafe placement, run clean cycle.
Brew cycle is too slow. Descale the unit.
Carafe overflowed. Empty carafe, do not overfill water reservoir.
Brew basket overflowed. Check carafe placement, rinse filter holder.
