Troubleshooting and error codes

Problem Possible Cause and Action
The doors cannot be locked or unlocked, opened or closed You lose your keys: new genuine keys can be made by your Toyota dealer. If you lose your electronic keys, contact your Toyota dealer immediately.
The doors cannot be locked or unlocked Is the key battery weak or depleted? Vehicles with a smart entry & start system: Is the engine switch in IGNITION ON mode? Is the electronic key left inside the vehicle? The function may not operate properly due to the condition of the radio wave.
The rear door cannot be opened Is the child-protector lock set?
The trunk lid is closed with the electronic key left inside The function to prevent the electronic key from being left inside the trunk will operate and you can open the trunk as usual.
The engine does not start (vehicles without a smart entry & start system) Vehicles with a manual transmission: Did you turn the key while firmly depressing the clutch pedal? Vehicles with a continuously variable transmission: Is the shift lever in P? Is the steering wheel unlocked? Is the battery discharged?
